Marine Science (CMST)

CMST (the Centre for Marine Science & Technology) performs research and consultancy over a wide range of areas, including Marine Acoustics & Bioacoustics, Underwater Vehicle Technology, Hydrodynamics of Ships and Yachts, Marine Education, Applied Oceanography, Imaging Technology and Antarctic Science. Some particular projects of note include the measurement of sea ice thickness in the Antarctic, ship motion stabilisation, and the use of sonar for position fixing in maritime archaeology.

CMST is located in the Physical Sciences building at the Curtin University Bentley campus. Clearly, the important measurement work takes place in the ocean but a great deal of time is spent working in CMST's laboratory and office facilities on analysis and simulation.
