Centre for Materials Research (CMR)
Is a leading group of physicists, chemists and engineers expert in materials characterisation, advanced materials, electrochemical sensors and corrosion science. The group is focused on the development and application of advanced materials, through analysis at the microstructural level right down to the nanometre and atomic scale. The MRG has the equipment, facilities and expertise to apply materials science and analysis to a vast range of industrial problems and new opportunities.
Particular areas of emphasis are:
- Advanced materials and ceramics developed from Australia's mineral resources
- Nanomaterials in biotechnology
- Novel concrete and geopolymer technology
- Corrosion science: failure analysis, materials selection and evaluation and corrosion prevention for industry
The MRG operates at all levels of development from fundamental research through to problem solving for established industries and processes. The group specialises in preliminary and strategic aspects of materials technology and transfer of novel research into practical applications.
The MRG has forged excellent working relationships with Australian industry and leading national and international research organisations, through a proven track record of providing practical expertise and high standards of service and research.
The MRG has strategic alliances with national and international universities and private organisations contributing to its international reputation for innovation and excellence.
